The 23rd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards will be presented in 2013 at the red carpet event attached to the Hollywood F.A.M.E. Award presentations held in West Hollywood at the historic Avalon Theater on November 14th. The event will open its production with a "Funk-Tacular" music presentation and show featuring award-winning drummer and vocalist Stevie Hawkins, performing his songs with renowned Grammy nominated percussionist Victor Orlando. Known as two of the heaviest hitting musicians of the Funk music genre on the planet, LA Music Awards executive producer Al Bowman unites Orlando and Hawkins to bring to his audience what is determined to be, an amazing and undeniable show-stopper at the Avalon.

Hawkins is a nominee this year in the "Urban Artist" category, while Orlando will be the recipient of a "Lifetime Achievement, Percussionist" Hollywood F.A.M.E. award at the event. Hawkins is a two time recipient in the 2012 LA Music Awards, taking home the "Record of the Year", and "Mark Vigil Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year" accolades.

Grammy Nominated
Victor Orlando

The duo have a long and rooted history in the Funk, Soul, Blues, Jazz and Latin realms, and are a positive influence and inspiration to musicians young and old. Orlando, an artist in his own right, is known as the "percussionist to the stars". He has performed and recorded with, Lowrider Band (formerly War), Gap Band, Yarbrough & Peoples, L.L. Cool J, Chaka Khan, Billy Preston, Teena Marie, Bobby Womack, and many more. Orlando's film and television credits include Fresh Prince, Married With Children, 24, Martin, Black Dynamite, Deception, and In the House. His original composition "Argentina" appears in the motion picture "For The Love Of Money". Victor Orlando currently performs and records with his band "Victor Orlando & Fun-Ja-La".

A student of the jazz drumming giant Buddy Rich, and well-learned student of Funk, Soul, R&B, Blues, Rock and Jazz, Hawkins adds further chapters to the book of music as an artist, as well as by sharing the big stage and performing with a variety of recording legends such as, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Rufus Thomas, Gregg Allman, Percy Sledge, Brook Benton, Chuck Berry, Johnny Winter, Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Willie Hill, Sammy Blue, Harvey Scales, and more. Hawkins also has a platinum record to his credit for his involvement in the multi-platinum album by Heart, "Dreamboat Annie".

"I am both honored and excited to have the opportunity to play some down-home Funk with Victor Orlando. He is undoubtedly one of the best percussionists and showmen in the music business. Both of us having relatively the same influences, and graduating from the same school that is termed the "old school", which in my opinion is "the school", the poly-rhythmic match will be perfect, the grooves infectious, and I can say with all Funkiness, the performance will be like a locomotive coming at you. Can't wait to share the stage with the man and bring this funky, percussive extravaganza to the audience at the Avalon. Thanks to Al Bowman for making this happen", said Hawkins.

The 23rd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards promises to be spectacular, showcasing some of the best talent from around the world. Over 100 members of the international press and media will cover the red carpet and interior events to include; Music Connection Magazine, E1News Daily, PR Newswire, Wire Image, Daily Celeb, and Los Angeles television news outlets who will converge on the event to catch a glimpse of many notable celebrities in attendance.
